Q. Does SFCU do home loans?
A. Yes, through CU Members Mortgage.

Q. Can I have a debit card with a share (savings) account?
A. No, in order to have our VISA® Check Card (debit card) you must have a SFCU checking account.

Q. When I transfer funds from savings to checking, when will it be available?
A. Immediately, once the funds are processed by our system.

Q. I ordered a replacement debit card; will I be able to use my old PIN number?
A. Yes, but remember that all new and replacement VISA® Check Cards (debit cards) are sent non-active for your protection. You must activate your debit card at any ATM machine before using the debit card for any POS (point of sale) purchases or ATM transactions.

Q. I am making a deposit with a personal check; will the credit union put a hold on the funds?
A. At the time you make the deposit be sure to ask the teller. Placing a hold on any check depends on several factors, such as, are you a new member, if you have sufficient funds in the account to cover the amount of the check, do you have direct deposit of your paycheck, active loans, etc. will all have a bearing on the decision if we have to place a hold on the funds.

Q. If I use the SFCU ATM machine and use my SFCU VISA® Check Card (debit card) will be charged a fee?
A. No, we only charge a fee when you do a cash withdrawal at any non-SFCU ATM machine.

Q. How many SFCU ATM machines does SFCU have and where are they located?
A. We currently only have one and it is located our main Lufkin office located at 2601 S. John Redditt Drive. The ATM machine is located in the back of the building.

Q. I received my replacement debit card; why do I have to still activate it?
A. For your protection all SFCU VISA® Check Cards (debit cards) are sent to the members non-active. You must go to any ATM machine to activate your debit card before using the debit card for any POS (point of sale) purchases or ATM transactions.

Q. Does SFCU offer a free checking account?
A. Yes, our SFCU checking accounts have no monthly service fee. You are responsible for the purchase of any checks and prices vary depending on the style you choose.

Q. I put my deposit in the SFCU night drop; when will the funds be deposited?
A. Each business day we check the night drop under dual control and process the deposit and/or payments within the first hour after opening. (normally before 9:30a.m.)

Q. What is the fee for opening a SFCU share (savings) account?
A. We charge a non-refundable $5.00 processing fee to complete the paperwork and do the required OFAC regulatory verification of your identity.

Q. What is the fee for opening a SFCU draft (checking) account?
A. None. We do require an initial deposit of $100.00.

Q. Are checks free when I open a SFCU draft (checking) account?
A. No, the member is responsible for the fee charged when ordering checks. Prices vary depending on the style the member chooses. Come by either office to check out the choices and current prices.

Q. I ran out of checks; does the credit union offer temporary checks?
A. Yes, we will print 8 (eight) temporary checks for a $5.00 processing fee.

Q. How many times a month can I withdrawal from my SFCU share (savings) account?
A. We allow up to 4 (four) withdrawals per month processed over the counter by a teller. After that we charge a $2.00 processing fee for each additional cash withdrawal processed over the counter by a teller.

Q. I lost my wallet; what do I need to do?
A. Immediately notify the credit union and on our website check out the information we have on ID Theft. You need to notify the police, the credit bureau, and all businesses that you have a credit card with. Be sure to place an “alert” through the credit bureau. Be sure to check out the helpful information we have on our website.

Q. I have a SFCU VISA® Check Card (debit card) which will expire this month; when will I receive my replacement card?
A. The card will be good for the whole month. As an example, the card shows it will expire 03/09 and will remain active until March 31, 2009. You should receive a replacement SFCU VISA® Check Card (debit card) by the 3rd week of the month the card will expire. Remember that you will still need to activate the replacement card. You must go to any ATM machine activate your debit card before using the debit card for any POS (point of sale) purchases or ATM transactions.

Q. I have a SFCU VISA® Check Card (debit card) and it is worn out and will not work; can I get a new one?
A. Yes, we do charge a $5.00 processing fee for ordering a replacement card.

Q. I want to have my paycheck direct deposited to my account; what do I need to do?
A. You will need to give your payroll department the SFCU ABA Routing number 313186158 and your SFCU account number. If you have a checking account you will find both the SFCU ABA Routing number and your member number on the bottom of your credit union checks. If you only have a savings account you will use your member number found on your statement.

Q. I just joined the credit union; can I apply for a loan?
A. You can apply for a loan that will be secured by collateral or share (savings) at anytime. You must be a member for 12 months to apply for a unsecured loan.

Q. Does the credit union offer services to children under the age of 18 (eighteen)?
A. Yes, we only require that a parent or guardian be on any account service the child opens.

Q. Does the credit union offer home equity loans?
A. Not at this time.
